To be considered for a grant, all applicants must first complete and sign the SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION and provide supporting documentation of enrollment in a program as described. In addition, the Society asks that each applicant write a personal letter of introduction describing themselves, their field of concentration (major) and their relationship to the Scottish community in Southern California.
Scholarships will be based on an identifiable need for financial assistance and/or a meritorious academic record. The Education Committee will assess each application and notify the applicants of their status. Finalists may be asked to send additional information including, but not limited to, transcripts, letters of recommendation, and financial aid notice from the educational institution. In addition, applicants may be asked to come to an interview with the Scholarship Committee. If distance or financial concerns make a personal interview impractical, a telephone interview may be substituted. Winners will be notified in writing and asked, whenever possible, to receive their award at the annual feast of St. Andrew in December.
Applications for the 2005 Scholarships are due on or before July 31st.
